I am sure some of you will have seen the lively discussion in the future development forum about what I'm about to describe.
This is likely to be rolled out this afternoon, and should be considered an experimental change at this stage, as I'm aware opinion is divided both about the concept itself, and the specifics of the implementation.
What we've done is:
- [1] removed the concept of contract extension locks. All players can now have their contracts extended in your squad indefinitely.
[2] implemented a system where the wage asked for by a player to extend his contract now scales up according to the reputation of his club.
- player has 1 star reputation - player always extends at his base wage demand
- player has 1.5 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 1.05 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 2 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 1.1 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 2.5 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 1.15 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 3 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 1.25 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 3.5 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 1.5 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 4 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 2 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 4.5 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 3 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- player has 5 star reputation - player extends at between 1.0 (a level 1 club) up to 5 (a level 20 club) x his base wage demand
- [3]When a player auto extends a contract, he will sign for the above regardless of whether it is higher or lower than his contract wage
[4]When a player is transferred, he will sign a contract for the highest of his current contract wage, and the above.
*** First Note ***
The maximum figures above are just that.
A player will only ask for 5 x his wage demand if
1) he is a household name
2) you are a level 20 club and
3) he has been a household name and playing for a level 20 club for the last 5 seasons.
That said, this is beta testing and everything can be tweaked.
*** Second Note ***
For the purpose of accelerating the testing of this, the system has been 'pre-loaded' such that every player is treated as if he has had the same reputation as he has now, and has been playing for a club of the same reputation as he does now, for the past 2 seasons. So essentially he will be 2/5ths of the way to having the maximum wage modifier applied.
On your squad page, there are now just two possible icons next to the "Auto Renew Type" column.
A blue padlock = he is going to be auto-extended
A grey padlock = he is going to an auction
Nothing = he is leaving
- [3] disabled excess wage tax
