Ακολουθεί το τρίτο μέρος μιας τριλογίας ιστοριών μικρού μήκους που εγκαινιάστηκε κάποια στιγμή σε αυτό το site. Σόρυ για τα Αγγλικά, αλλά μέχρι να προκύψει μια ιστορία δεν σε προειδοποιεί για τη μορφή της
Some time (relatively speaking) after the end of the universe.
Angel 1 watching the empty space where Earth stood.
"Drat, I start to miss the old fellas. What with their miniscule life spans and their exorbitant egos like they were immortals or somethin".
Angel 2 watching the same empty space.
"Lord knows (praise the Lord) how right you are. But how were we to know that this planet would evolve the way it did. Don?t you go forgetting how it all started. It was right after the Big Bang when our Lord signaled the beginning of the game and our team was hurriedly chasing after Prince Michael who dribbled that large fragment of matter expertly and was sprinting towards our goal. It took 50 higher powers to tackle him successfully and wrestle the matter-ball from him before he could score, and that only happened because the Lord (praise the Lord) was standing still while the Holy Spirit was taking a still image of Him for use with the mortals production line and couldn?t point the foul made".
"A single Seraphim lofted the matter-ball forward to feed our towering forward who made a faint to the right and immediately passed to you who were perching right outside the box. I know that you were in a legit position since I was the linesman and I can?t lie. However my friend, I still for the best of me, don?t know where you found the strength to beat Prince Gabriel keeper. I mean, technically it was a sound effort, one that your coach would be proud of, but the mentality needed! The nerve! The audacity! It was all over in erm, what is how they call?em, nano seconds. The matter-ball flew through Gabriel?s goal with such a blistering speed that no one thought of going after it to bring it back since in a couple more of these nano seconds the whole universe would be full of such stuff anyways. I remember someone joking that the matter-ball would surely end up at the edge of the would-be universe".
"Do you remember how everyone was amazed when our Lord announced us that from all the miraculous worlds that he created he chose that cracked matter-ball for the human experiment. When Prince Michael returned from scouting that corner of the universe he told us that the matter-ball had splintered from the velocity to form a common solar system right at the lower end of a creamy litl galaxy. The third planet of that system was chosen for the EDEN project, and as they say, from then on it?s history".
Angel 1 eyes flashed open as in remembrance. These humans proved capable for the worst as well as the best, time after time in their history. Normally we weren?t allowed to interfere unless given a direct order of course. But it was becoming increasingly difficult to abstain from observing those pesky human lives once they started hitting the ball on a worldwide scale. People were living in poverty, they were striped of human rights, they were gunned down, stomped over, abused in a thousand ways and yet the kick of a ball raised their brows and lightened their hearts even so.
Even so. He clearly remembered how often he placed a simple leather ball at the hands of a poor almost famished kid only to receive a glance of joy for the game gifted while darting around to call friends to play. He even remembered how once in a while the Lord would grant them a petition for a favourite national team that was considered an underdog to win a major trophy by playing the games of their lives.
He overheard many times saints speculating that were it not for that game the world would have met its destiny aeons ago, but the Lord was forgiving and pitying and marveling the humans for their weak nature and at the same time their resilience to overcome all difficulties life presented if only they could watch some more football.
?Tell me friend, do you believe that we would play again some time such a miracle of a game??
Angel 2 answered truthfully. ?Only Lord knows, my friend. Only He knows?.
